You Forgot My Soul

Once again, I was doing my school work and came across a great inspirational poem I wanted to share with you all. After reading this, I want to encourage all of you to be a great friend!!

You Forgot My Soul

You lived next door to me for years;
We shared our dreams, our joys and tears.
A friend to me you were indeed,
A friend who helped me when in need.

My faith in you was strong and sure.
We had such trust as should endure.
No "words" between us could impose;
Our friends were like - and so, our foes.

What sadness, then, my friend, to find
That after all, you weren't so kind;
The day my life on earth did end,
I found you weren't a faithful friend.

For all those years we spent on earth,
You never talked of second birth.
You never spoke of my lost soul
And of the Christ Who'd make me whole.

I'm lost today eternally
And tell you now my earnest plea.
You cannot do a thing for me -
No words today my bonds will free.

But - do not err, my friend, again -
Do all you can for souls of men.
Plead with them now quite earnestly,
Lest they be cast in hell with me.

The Winsome Girl

During my language lesson this morning, I was doing dictation on a passage called, The Winsome Girl. It reminded me so much of a girl that I know. Erin Carter, this is for you!!

The Winsome Girl:

"The winsome girl has a warm, loving heart. She feels "Smiley" inside, and the smiles just shine out. She does not think about herself. She does not stand about moping, waiting to be coaxed into a game. She does not take offense when none was intended. She does not imagine that other girls are slighting her. She does not always want to be first.

The winsome girl does not hang her head and refuse to reply when strangers or older people speak to her, but answers as sweetly and politely as possible. She may be bashful, and her heart may go thumpety-thump in the presence of strangers, but she is never rude or surly on that account. She is brave enough to do hard things; and talking to strangers is a very hard thing for a naturally bashful girl.

The winsome girl never sulks. She is not the sort that never has opinions, but she does not become angry with those who differ from her. If she can not agree with her companions, she does not try to compel them to agree with her.

The winsome girl is, just winsome, that is all. Keep your eyes open, and you will find her sometime. Keep sweet, and other folks may find her when they look at you! And that would be best of all."

(From Moral Lessons of Yesteryear, Published by Mantle Ministries)

Winsome - adj. pleasant, joy, pleasure. Engaging, attractive, sweet and charming: a winsome maiden, smile, face; winsome manners.

Keep it up, girl :)

5/7/12- Raw Week Challenge

We left yesterday and headed to Jekyll Island!! And we couldn't make the trip without a starbucks!!

The Rig, all hooked up:

And let me introduce you to our new friend, Hammy! :)

So, to try my self-control, I've decided on a 1 week long mostly raw/vegan diet! Notice I've put, "mostly" in there because I know that with my whole family around, I don't want to hinder them from anything that they want to do/eat and feel guilty if I don't eat it. But to put it into a schedule, I'll have 2 raw meals a day and mostly raw dinner (such as a salad and chips and salsa, which we are having tonight.) But to start things off, I have a raw brownie recipe for you!!

BROWNIE
2 1/2 Cups Raw Nuts (any and all, I used walnuts, almonds and cashews)
8-10 Dates, Pitted (depending on how sweet you like yours :))
A Handful of Raisins
5 TBSP Cocoa Powder
1 TBSP Agave Nectar and/or Honey (optional)
Pinch of Salt
1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cup Water

TOPPING
6 TBSP Coconut Oil
4 TBSP Cocoa Powder
1/4 Cup Agave Nectar/Honey

In a food processor, coarsely chop all nuts. Add the remaining brownie ingredients and chop for 3 minutes (It should be a paste-like texture). Scoop all of the mixture into any sized pan you prefer. Rinse processor and add topping ingredients. Blend well and poor onto smoothed brownie top. Adjust evenly around and let sit in freezer for 1 hour or until top becomes hard. Cut and enjoy!!

(Pit dates)
(Add ingredients)

(Chop until smooth)
(Add topping)

(Enjoy!!!)

And lastly, our quaint little sewing/craft room here at the Jekyll Island campground. :)

Hello everyone and please pray for me to stick with my commitment. :)
